How to Find Student Housing in Lausanne in 2026: Application Calendar
2026-05-25
If you're trying to find housing in Lausanne for 2026, you should know that most dorm providers run rolling applications. A few have fixed opening dates. Here they are.
Student housing application dates in Lausanne (2026)
8 June 2026, 14h00 — GeroFinance / Roomea opens registrations for three buildings simultaneously: Students Place 4U (Crissier), Les Toches (Echandens), and Unihome Gottrause (Crissier, brand new — 256 units).
16 June 2026, 14h00 — Homestudy in Chavannes-près-Renens opens.
1 December (every year, 12h00) and 1 April (every year) — Les Estudiantines, the residence right on the EPFL campus, opens registrations twice per year: 1 December for the spring (February) semester, 1 April for the autumn (September) semester.
Rolling applications: FMEL, FSLE and the other Lausanne student dorms
FMEL doesn't have a window — you create a profile on accommodation.fmel.ch, set your preferences, and the system sends you offers automatically whenever a current tenant terminates a lease. For reference, I've applied twice for a studio: first on 1 December 2023, got an offer on 4 June 2024 (~6 months); second on 13 December 2024, got one on 9 May 2025 (~5 months). So roughly half a year is what to expect.
FSLE lists its available rooms directly on their site, and you book them through their online tool.
Silo Bleu and Lausanne Student Village (Les Triaudes in Ecublens) are year-round too — you book when something is listed, and listings come and go based on turnover. Lausanne Student Village publishes its live inventory on a disponibilités page with real-time counts per unit type.
How to land a spot on opening day
- Be there sharp at the opening minute. The queue grows fast and spots can disappear within the first hour.
- Have everything on hand: ID, enrolment certificate, guarantor info, and a recent extrait du registre des poursuites.
