My stay at the Vortex was perfect. The concierge service was always very reactive and helpful, and everything is designed to let students fully focus on their work at EPFL. The environment is calm, practical, and very well organized.
Best apartment I’ve had as a student. It is close to both UNIL and EPFL. The layout is really nice, and the flatmates are generally friendly.
Very well placed and enjoyable room. For my precise studio I slightly lacked storage but a part form that everything was very good. Good quality bed and nice modern kitchen with simple but functional bathroom
Vortex is a great place to live. Everything you need is close by, and the location near UNIL and EPFL is hard to beat. The studio layout works well, with decent room size and enough storage. Laundry facilities are available and accessible. It's also a genuinely quiet place. The one real drawback is the summer heat, temperatures inside can reach 30°C, which gets genuinely uncomfortable. That alone knocks it down a notch for me. The rest of the year it's a solid 5/5, so I'd settle on 4/5 overall. Staff are responsive and easy to reach when issues come up. WiFi is reliable too, with occasional hiccups for heavier users, but nothing serious day to day. As for price, it offers solid value given the location and amenities.
Vortex is a pretty nice place. Although its on the pricey side for student dorms, its location near the university, gym and lake make it convenient. I have a room and bathroom for my self and I share a kitchen with one guy — I think this is the best balance. During the winter it can get a bit cold, since they cap the temperature at maximum 20 degrees, you might need a heater. Other than that it has everything you need.
Vortex is very well located. I am in a shared flat with another person. So the cleanliness of the kitchen and common spaces depends on the other. But my experience was good with my flatmates. The room is spacious. There is not a lot of noise usually if there are no events outside.
